About Camp Epic

Camp Epic is a one of a kind accommodation experience located on the Timber Trail near the halfway point at Piropiro. Stay in one of our large twin bed canvas safari tents or in our family canvas tents. Drift off to sleep to the sound of Ruru calls on our super comfy warm beds. You'll spend the evening bonding with others around the camp fire toasting marshmallows under the starry sky.  Refresh in what we claim to be the best hot showers in NZ that overlook the stunning native forest. Other facilities include flushing toilets, a fully equipped communal kitchen and dining area, and ebike charging station. We have everything you need for a comfortable camping experience nestled in nature.

Package Itinerary

• You meet us in Ongarue before 8.30am on day 1 of your ride. We shuttle you to the start of the Timber Trail at Pureora and you are on your bike on the Trail by 9.30am-10am.

• A separate shuttle takes your overnight luggage and food/drinks straight to Camp Epic from Ongarue.

• You ride the first 40km of the Timber Trail from Pureora to Camp Epic at Piroprio

• Spend the night at Camp Epic

• Morning of day 2 you make breakfast then head out from Camp Epic to ride the remaining 42km of the Timber Trail from Piropiro to Ongarue.

• You then finish your ride where you parked your car in Ongarue with your luggage returned there waiting for you from midday.

​Package includes 1 nights accommodation at Camp Epic, shuttle from Ongarue to Pureora, luggage transfers and breakfast for day 2. Packages are self-catered, so please bring your own food and drinks to be transferred to Camp Epic for your dinner and day 2 lunch. We do provide a help yourself breakfast and hot drinks at camp. All bedding and towels are provided with glamping option.
